Wonderful early Victorian folding hand fan. The 14kt GOLD PLATED guard sticks are decorated with GARNETS, 1mm TURQUOISE beads, and designs in the metal. The internal sticks are Mother of Pearl decorated with steels. The recto leaf has a chromolithograph courting scene with hand painted borders.
The verso has an angel cupid based on the arrow? Also chromolithograph with painted border, lakes, and waterfall. The 2 Gold Plated guard sticks and the 15 Mother of Pearl internal sticks are 8-1/2" long and the fan, when open, is 15-5/8" wide.The rivet is also plated.
